Family History Activities on Fast Sunday
Please remember the invitation to spend half an hour each Fast Sunday engaged in an activity related to temple and family history. We can enhance our fasting experience and invite the Spirit into our hearts and homes by making a sacrifice of our time to engage in such an activity. One possible activity is to explore the FamilySearch website; view your family tree; review posted information about ancestors; in particular, go to
https://www.familysearch.org/gettingstarted or https://www.familysearch.org/discovery
Burke Ward Family Group on FamilySearch
We have created a Burke Ward family group on FamilySearch. Members of the group can add names that need temple work done and can pull names listed under the group. If you would like to join the group, please click here.
Note that you first need to establish a FamilySearch account. Contact Br. Baker if you have any questions.
Ward Mission News
@ComeUntoChristNoVa Facebook Page
Check out the @ComeUntoChristNoVa Facebook Page. On this page, the Stake Mission, DC South Mission, and members of the stake share missionary related posts.
We invite you and your family to share your testimony, a Gospel message, an inspirational thought, or other member missionary post.
Just Serve
Our Missionaries are able to do community service projects approved through the Church's JustServe.org program! If you know of a local organization that could use volunteers, please encourage them to submit a project by following information on the Submitting a Project page and share that info with the Sisters. You could also consider doing a service project with your family.
Resource Center for Immigrants and Refugees
Our Stake, together with other stakes in the area, has opened a resource center for immigrants and refugees. The resource center--called the NOVA Resource Center for a Better Life--will be at the meetinghouse located at 727 23rd St South, Arlington. Watch this video to see how other Church-sponsored resource centers have worked.
Choose a Tuesday or Thursday evening (6:30-8:30pm) or a Saturday afternoon (2:30-4:30pm) to serve refugees and immigrants. You will be helping students or teaching English classes, Computer classes or American Culture classes. In addition, on Saturday afternoon we need help with our sewing classes.
If you use social media, you can like, follow, or share the resource center on Facebook or Instagram, which will help other people to become aware of it. If you know someone that can benefit from the Center, please let them know about it. For more information, please contact Keri Hatch at kefhatch@gmail.com or 703-862-9692.
